The BMW 7-Series comes in several trims, 740i, 740i xDrive, 750i xDrive, 745e Plug-in hybrid and M760i xDrive. The 740i models are powered by a 3.0L turbocharged inline-six that produces 335 horsepower, with power sent to the rear wheels or all wheels via xDrive paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 750i gets a 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 engine making 523 horsepower. An 8-speed automatic feeds the power to all four wheels. The 745e plug-in hybrid pairs a 280-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.0L straight six with a 111-horsepower eDrive electric motor, with a total output rated at 389 horsepower. BMW says the 740e will hit 60 mph in just under five seconds and the car can run purely on battery power for up to 28 miles. In the high-performance M760i xDrive, the same 4.4L twin-turbo from the 750i has been massaged to deliver 600 horsepower, while Integral Active Steering pairs variable ratio electric steering up front with rear-axle steering. BMW claims a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds from the M760i xDrive.
